On Monday [14.10.2019] we were back in the Róisín Dubh for G002 where we were joined by Mix & Fairbanks and Gadget and the Cloud.
Delectable disco cuts aren’t exactly the order of the day in the countryside of Newbridge, but that hasn’t done anything to temper the efforts of Gary O’Reilly and Rob Smyth, better known as Mix & Fairbanks. Their clever sampling and dance floor nous has enabled them to create a stream of quality cuts, which brought them to venues in Dublin, Barcelona, London, Bristol, and festivals Eastern Electrics, Body & Soul, Electric Picnic, Life Festival, Longitude & more. Their past releases have gained support from heavy hitters like Skream, Krystal Klear, Tensnake, Folamour, and Fouk. Orange Tree Edits Vol 3, the first vinyl release for the lads hit the top of the Juno charts. They’ve appeared on wax twice since, with a 4 track EP on LA’s Pleasure of Love and two Azoto edits on High Fashion Music alongside Major Swellings (Prins Thomas). Their latest single ‘Ground Control & Major Toms’ sees them return to their local label 045 Recordings, and has received early support on BBC Radio 1 from Pete Tong and Danny Howard. We're excited to see what Mix & Fairbanks have in store for us downstairs in the Róisín October 14th.
Upstairs in the Róisín we are joined by Gadget and the Cloud. Gadget and the Cloud is a downtempo electronic act hailing from Cork. Combining simple ambient vibes with subdued, atmospheric beats, she makes songs to sadly dance to. Over the last three years, her music has travelled between ambient soundscapes to experimental beats from her early EP, October 31st to recent singles off her debut album, Songs For Sad People To Dance To. Off the back of praise from the likes of Peter Curtin on RTE 2XM and Cian Ó Cíobháin from An Taobh Tuathail, Gadget and the Cloud has played sets at Sounds From A Safe Harbour x DDRxPlugd, Electric Picnic, Townlands Carnival, CorkLovesMusic, Cork Sound Fair, Open Ear Festival, Nialler9 & Homebeat's FUTUREPROOF and a recent support slot for Negative Gemini. We're really looking forward to seeing what she brings in her DJ set upstairs at G002.
